How Erica Spartos Went From an Empty Parking Space Online to Inquiries Arriving Every Month

Erica Spartos is an EMDR-trained LMFT running a private-pay practice in California, working with teens and young adults through a trauma-focused, LGBTQIA+-affirming, eco-centered lens. For most of her ten years in practice she relied entirely on referrals and directory listings. When those stopped being enough, her website had nothing to offer in their place. Two months after the foundation work went live, she went from zero organic inquiries to 3 to 5 a month.

    The client

Erica Spartos is an LMFT in California specializing in trauma-focused therapy for teens and young adults, with EMDR training and an LGBTQIA+, eco-centered practice focus.

    The situation before

Erica had a website for years, but it had never needed to do any work. Referrals and directory listings, including her Psychology Today profile, brought in enough clients on their own. That started changing roughly a year before she reached out, directories sending fewer clients her way than they used to, a pattern showing up across the profession as insurance and referral economics shift. For the first time, her practice needed the website to actually produce something, and it wasn't built to.

She'd avoided the technical side for a decade, by her own description. That wasn't unusual. It was simply never urgent enough to justify the effort, until it was.

    What was blocking her

No technical foundation. Google Search Console had never been set up, which meant there was no way to know whether Google was indexing her pages correctly, or how the site was actually performing in search. That absence of visibility was itself a sign of how far back the foundation work needed to start.

A single page standing in for a whole site. The entire website was one page. There was no page built to rank for "EMDR therapist California," no page for the teen and young adult work, no page for the LGBTQIA+-affirming or eco-centered focus. Google had nothing to index beyond a homepage, so it had nothing to rank for any of Erica's actual specialties.

No content written for how people search. The site established that Erica was a therapist. It did not say, in the language a prospective client types into Google, what she treated, who she worked with, or what made her practice different.

    Here's what we did

    Rebuilt the technical foundation.

Search Console set up, indexing verified, and the groundwork laid so Google could reliably find and read the site for the first time.

Outcome: A site that was previously unmeasured and effectively invisible to Google became indexed and trackable.

Converted the single page into a full site.

New pages built around Erica's actual specialties, EMDR, trauma-focused work with teens and young adults, and LGBTQIA+, eco-centered therapy, each written to match the specific terms prospective clients search.

Outcome: The site had, for the first time, individual pages capable of ranking for the specific work Erica does rather than competing against itself with a single generic page.

    Added an active blog.

Ongoing content built around the same specialties, giving the site a reason to keep attracting new search visibility rather than sitting static.

Outcome: Impressions and views began climbing steadily rather than staying flat, and the right kind of prospective client, someone specifically searching for EMDR or trauma-focused teen therapy, started finding the site.

The entire engagement ran without paid directory listings, paid advertising, or directory dependency.

    The results

Two months after the work went live, Erica's practice went from zero organic inquiries through the website to 3 to 5 a month. For a practice that had run on referrals alone for a decade, that's not a small shift, it's a second channel that didn't exist before, and one that doesn't depend on a directory continuing to send business her way.

I've had the pleasure of working with Manuel to increase my online presence and add much needed SEO to my website. When online directories stopped sending me clients about a year ago, I knew I needed to make a shift and better utilize my website to attract business. My website was basically an empty parking space online where no one could find me. After Manuel's thorough analysis and research, he was able to rewrite my content, add much needed pages and reorganize my website in a way that has attracted many impressions and views. Now my website is attracting business and has been indexed on Google.

Manuel is patient, has excellent follow-through, and delivers quality work. He's collaborative and open to feedback. He met all of the deliverables on the initial plan and I couldn't be happier with his service! I highly recommend him for website visibility and SEO, specifically for therapists (like me) who lack the technical know-how and skills. He is a godsend!

    What the results show

Erica's situation is the plainest version of the pattern this work keeps turning up. A website can exist for a decade, look presentable, and still do nothing, not because the therapist behind it lacks the clinical skill to fill a caseload, but because the site was never built to be found for the specific work they do. Erica's practice didn't need a rebrand. It needed pages that didn't exist yet.

What changed wasn't her clinical positioning, it was always there in her Psychology Today profile and her LinkedIn headline. What changed is that Google finally had something to index and rank. Ten years of relying on referrals is common, not a mark against the practice. The gap only becomes visible when the referral pipeline slows down, which is exactly when it did for Erica.
